It gets you STRONG, by using awkward objects and unconventional methods of training such as the lifting, carrying, and holding of atlas stones, sandbags d-balls, farmer handles, kettlebells and yokes.
Strongman training is joint friendly! It will increase your strength without the typical wear and tear on your joints commonly found from barbell movements by using the sled push, pull and drags. This training method is perfect for those people who suffer from lower back issues and knee pain because there is minimal loading on them.
Make gains and lose fat ... yes it is possible! Strongman workouts provide the precise amount of wear and tear on the muscle tissue to safely tear it down so that it can be rebuilt bigger and stronger than before. It has been shown to trigger a higher release of growth hormone, which can support muscle gains.
Strongman exercises activate several major muscle groups simultaneously. The more muscles you use and the greater the intensity during the exercise, the more calories you’ll burn. Strongman workouts allow you to build muscle mass while helping you lean out. Studies show that compound movements, such as the ones already mentioned above, can help to promote fat burning.
Improve your grip strength. Think about what kind of grip strength you need to pick up a heavy stone. Want to work on your grip? Pick up stones or do heavy farmer’s carries. This has a huge carryover to pull ups, toes to bar, and barbell movements. If you suffer from wrist pain this will alleviate it or completely get rid of it.
This course will meet twice a week, Tuesday and Saturday, for six weeks and is open to all fitness levels. It will include a baseline test and retest after 6 weeks, thorough and comprehensive explanation of all movements and most importantly you will get strong in a fun way!
